Let’s Encrypt is a CA that provides https certs to enable ssl/tls for free. There are third party implementations that would help us to automate this process for a website hosted on azure using azure site extensions.

Summary of steps to be followed are detailed in the azure site extension’s github repository page. The whole process itself is simple and took like 15mins, not bad for free https! The site extension will setup a web job that will take care of auto-renewing cert every 3 months.
